Do's and Don'ts

  • Don't try to measure distance in miles.

  • Do measure distance in time.Texas is larger than France, so you're not going to "run down" to Austin or Houston for the day.

  • Don't litter. That's a good way to have the locals turn on you.

  • Do help us keep the city clean. We're quite proud of it.

  • Don't confuse Tex-Mex with Mexican food. They're not the same thing.

  • Do order the guac.Always order the guac.

  • Don't confuse us with Ft. Worth.Ft. Worth is a big city with a small town feel. Dallas is a thriving metropolis.

  • Do visit our museums. We've got the world's largest privately-owned Samurai collection right here in Dallas.

  • Don't disrespect a cops, firefighters, or veterans. We hold all three in high regard.

  • Do say "please" and "thank you" and "pardon me"and hold open a door for someone.

  • Don't go looking for cowboy hats in western storesbecause they don't exist within the city...

  • Do go to the Stockyards if you really want a cowboy hat.
