US Airways Slashes Fare Between Chattanooga and Charlotte

New Fare Structure Benefits Both Business and Leisure Travelers

(January 10, 2006) - The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport announces a new low fare structure filed by US Airways between Chattanooga and Charlotte, starting at $198 on a 21-day advance purchase ticket. This new fare represents a 58% decrease from the airline's previous lowest fare of $474. The 14-day advance ticket starts at $258 and the 7-day advance ticket starts at $298 (all fares quoted plus applicable taxes and fees).

"As we continue to integrate our two airlines, combining consumer-friendly pricing with the reach and amenities of a coast-to-coast and international network has been our goal," said Scott Kirby, executive vice president, sales and marketing for the newly merged airline created by US Airways and America West. "Today's announcement of lowered fares in our three eastern hubs is another step in that process."

As part of Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority's community outreach plan, President Mike Landguth has met with hundreds of area business leaders in an effort to gather data on the community's travel needs. Charlotte was quickly identified by local businesses as a destination with higher fares.

"US Airways recognized and responded to our need for a competitive fare on the Chattanooga to Charlotte route. This is a great example of the benefits of a close partnership between the airline and our airport," Landguth said. "We would like to thank the local business community for their willingness to meet with us and for supporting our goal of growing air service in Chattanooga."
