FOR RELEASE: Monday, June 27, 2005
FORT WORTH, Texas – American Eagle, the
regional affiliate of American Airlines, will add nonstop service
between Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth
International Airport beginning Aug. 1.
To celebrate, the airline is offering a special
introductory fare for travel between the two cities for travel through
September. For just $109* each way (based on a round-trip purchase on
the American Airlines/American Eagle website,
AA.com), American Eagle
can jet passengers between Chattanooga and Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport on the carrier’s new daily roundtrip flight aboard its
44-seat ERJ-140 jets.
“Today's announcement is great news for
Chattanoogans and travelers throughout the region,” said U.S. Sen.
Bill Frist. “Expanding air service creates jobs and supports economic
growth by giving travelers more options and drawing business
investment to the region. This will bring new opportunities to the
region and benefits to travelers, businesses and all Tennesseans.”
“It is exciting to see real progress with air
service in and out of Chattanooga,” said U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp. “An
American Eagle direct flight to Dallas/Fort Worth is a major step in
opening up more direct service to markets across the nation for
business, industry and the citizens of the Tennessee Valley. I want to
thank the airport authority's leadership for their excellent work on
this and other efforts to improve our air service. Their efforts will
pay big dividends in terms of economic development and quality of
life. I am honored to be a part of a congressional delegation that
helps to get good things done for Tennessee.”
“Our community’s diligent and aggressive efforts
to enhance air service are reaping great dividends,” said Chattanooga
Mayor Ron Littlefield. “We are thrilled that American Eagle has chosen
to expand its presence in this market by adding direct service to
Dallas/Fort Worth. Today’s announcement is very exciting and
illustrates that as travelers from this region continue to fly from
Chattanooga, carriers will respond by providing more options with
competitively priced fares.”
“The unwavering support of local business and
community leaders has created steady passenger growth at the
Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, which has made this community more
attractive to airlines,” said Mike Landguth, President and CEO of the
Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority. “We thank American Eagle
for their expression of confidence in our community and look forward
to making this service a success.”
The new service to Dallas/Fort Worth is in
